Laurence Goodrich Robbins ’66
Laurence Goodrich Robbins ’66 passed away peacefully on May 28 after a long struggle with Lewy body dementia. Born in Fairfield, Connecticut, Larry came from a Dartmouth family. Father Donald ’36, uncle Arthur ’38, and brother Henry ’61 preceded him at the College, and daughter Sarah ’91 married Durward Sobek ’91. At Dartmouth he was a member of Alpha Chi Alpha and majored in economics. After earning an M.B.A. from MIT Sloan School and studying at the Stonier School of Banking, Larry was employed in the technical side of the financial industry for many years, first at the Federal Reserve in Boston, then at the Bank of Boston. He then entered the consulting industry, working for Nolan Norton, Rubin Associates, Gemini Consulting, Meritus Consulting, and Computer Sciences Corp. until his retirement in 2009. Larry’s primary passion was children Sarah and Beth and stepson Geoffrey. He was a kind and generous man and could always be counted on for thoughtful advice. Larry’s secondary passions included music and sailing. He played the piano and the recorder and belonged to the Corinthian Yacht Club since 1982. Larry also enjoyed travel. Combining his work with their travel, Larry and wife Deirdre spent a year in London and two months each in Canberra, Australia, and Bangkok, Thailand. In addition to his wife and children, Larry is survived by 10 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and four siblings.
