Laurence F. Ward ’76

Laurence F. Ward ’76 passed away on October 6, 2021, in Milton, Massachusetts. Larry came to Dartmouth from Danbury (Connecticut) High School, where he was a National Merit Scholar. At Dartmouth Larry majored in creative writing, taking deep interest in creating writing and films and serving as film critic for The Dartmouth. He was active in Phi Tau, eventually serving as its president. Many on campus knew Larry as a friendly person who greeted them with a smile and a quip at Thayer Hall wearing a gold coat and eventually a green coat. After Dartmouth Larry attended Boston College Law School, graduating in 1980. Larry spent most of his legal career as a staff attorney for the Massachusetts Court of Appeals, ultimately serving as chief civil attorney for the Massachusetts Court of Appeals. Throughout his life Larry pursued and shared his passions for movies, music, books, and baseball. He will be missed by everyone who had the good fortune to know him, including those Dartmouth classmates and friends with whom he maintained close ties.
