Kevin R. Murphy ’71

Kevin R. Murphy ’71 of Milford, Connecticut, passed away on October 11, 2024, with wife Karen and children Katie and Daniel at his side. Kevin is remembered as a successful trial lawyer. Born on May 10, 1949, in South Bend, Indiana, he spent his boyhood in Rockford, Illinois, graduating in 1967 from Boylan Catholic High School. Kevin attended Dartmouth, protested the Vietnam War, and espoused progressive causes. Kevin enrolled in University of Connecticut Law School where he met Karen on the first day of classes, and they were together since. They married and graduated the same weekend in May 1977 and worked together as law partners, eventually at their own firm, Murphy Karpie Connelly & Sickinger LLC. Kevin developed Parkinson’s disease but never complained or allowed it to prevent him from fully enjoying his six grandchildren, who survive. In addition, Kevin leaves siblings Vincent, Joseph, David, and Mary Ann; 18 nieces and nephews; and 16 grandnieces and grandnephews. He was predeceased by his parents and nephew Xavier. Kevin most enjoyed hanging out with his family.
