Kevin Lee James ’79

Kevin Lee James ’79 died unexpectedly on August 17, 2012, while on vacation with his family in Maine. At Dartmouth Kevin was a high jumper on the track team, physics major and a “Math 5” teaching assistant. He lived in South Fayerweather during his freshman and sophomore years. Kevin received an M.B.A. from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 1983 and subsequently distinguished himself in a busy and full career in the energy industry as an executive with British Petroleum (BP), a career that included assignments in Brisbane, Australia, and London, England. At the time of his death Kevin was the CEO of a $1-billion division (BP Marine). Kevin enjoyed travel, reading, cycling and relaxing with his family. He is survived by his wife, Lynn, and twin sons Thomas and Brendan, both college graduates. In lieu of flowers Kevin’s family requested donations be made to Dartmouth College, the American Heart Association or a charity of your choice.
