John T.A. Price ’57

John T.A. Price ’57 of Winnetka, Illinois, passed away peacefully on June 26. John graduated from Irvington (New York) High School. He majored in economics, receiving his A.B. from Dartmouth in 1957 and his M.B.A. from Tuck School in 1958. Cultivating an interest in banking during his studies, he joined Northern Trust Co. in Chicago in 1958, his one and only employer. He had a satisfying 36-year career in many aspects of commercial banking. John and his wife, Joan, comfortably settled into suburban life, raising their family, spending half their time in Winnetka and the remainder at their cottage on Lake of the Bays in Ontario’s Muskoka Lake District. He described the cottage as “a perfect all-seasons gathering place for family and friends.” John was active in his community. He was involved with Boy Scouts of America Troop 20 helping to ensure boys progressed through the ranks and participating in many of the troop’s camping trips with his son, John. He was on the executive committee of the Scouts’ northeast Illinois council. John was a longtime member of the local Christ Church. He served on a variety of committees and as church warden. At the age of 58 he found his true calling—a long and enjoyable retirement, spending as much time as possible at his lake cottage. He is survived by Joan, daughter Elizabeth, son John, and daughter-in-law Truc.
