John Richard Lazarek ’64

John Richard Lazarek ’64 died September 17, 2013. Jack came to Dartmouth from Stonington (Rhode Island) High School, where he was on the football and track teams, worked on the yearbook, participated in the drama club, was elected to the National Honor Society and was class president for two years. At Dartmouth he majored in government and was a member of the Film Society. After graduation he traveled in the Southern states doing research for a book on the 1964 election. He started a career as a banker with Connecticut National Bank, where he was vice president. At retirement in 2007 he was sales director of a clothing manufacturer. Jack was an avid supporter of the arts and served on the Mystic (Connecticut) Outdoor Arts Festival for five years. He also served on the board of the Mystic Art Association and volunteered at the Lyme (Connecticut) Art Association. He had extensive knowledge of the works of the Mystic art community from the early 20th century and acquired a significant collection of paintings and sculpture. Jack is survived by his wife, Ann, two daughters and one son.
