John “Jock” Wilson McNair Jr. ’60
John “Jock” Wilson McNair Jr. ’60 died on June 30 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury, Maryland, after a long and valiant fight with heart disease. He was born on May 23, 1938, in Springfield, Massachusetts; he was the son of the late John Wilson and Mary Elizabeth McNair. Jock grew up in Baltimore and graduated from Dartmouth, where he was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon and on the staff of WDCR. After graduating he worked for the International Paper Co. and General Foods Corp. before having his own frozen vegetable brokerage firm in Salisbury. He was an active member of Rotary for 25 years and served on many of its committees. He was one of the founders of the Halo Vegetable Gardens and was the hands-on manager for many years before his retirement in 2017. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Barbara (“Susie”), three sons, and five grandchildren.
