John Ford Barlow ’55

John Ford Barlow ’55, M.D., died September 20, 2024, in Rapid City, South Dakota. He is survived by daughters Deborah and Karen and was predeceased by wife Anne. John came to Hanover from Montclair Academy in New Jersey. He took a premed course of study and was accepted into Dartmouth Medical School. After the two-year Dartmouth program, John earned his M.D. from Harvard Medical School and completed his residency in pathology at Massachusetts General Hospital. John served two years of active duty at Womack Hospital in Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He then became a partner at the Laboratory of Clinical Medicine in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and taught at the University of South Dakota Medical School. During his career, John received many teaching awards and was inducted South Dakota Hall of Fame in 2016.
