John D. Bassette Jr. ’55

John D. Bassette Jr. ’55 died on December 21, 2021, in Cornish Flat, New Hampshire. He is survived by Ruth, his wife of 63 years, and children David, Gregory, John, and Jeffrey. John came to Dartmouth from Mount Hermon, Massachusetts. He majored in geography and was a leader in the Nordic events for the Dartmouth ski team. He also sang with the Glee Club and the Injunaires and was a member of Theta Chi. After graduation John completed two years of service with the Army’s Mountain Cold Weather Training Command in Camp Hale, Colorado. John returned to New Hampshire to manage the Okemo Ski Area. He then opened a real estate business in the Upper Valley. He also sang with several groups, including the University Chorus of the Upper Valley, which performed concerts for Dartmouth reunion classes.
