John Blaisdell Nason III ’59
John Blaisdell Nason III ’59 died on May 23. He entered Dartmouth from LaSalle Military Academy in Oakdale, New York. He majored in economics and was a member of Kappa Kappa Kappa. In 1962 Jack received his law degree from the University of Virginia and he and Laura, his wife of more than 55 years, settled in the Philadelphia area. Starting with the firm Duane Morris and then with other firms, Jack became a leading labor lawyer, representing management in some of the most serious labor disputes in the Philadelphia region. He was also active in the Philadelphia and Pennsylvania bar associations and frequently wrote articles and served as a lecturer on labor matters. He retired in 2002 and he and Laura moved to Arizona. In addition to volunteer work for churches and charitable organizations, Jack was deeply involved in a broad range of Dartmouth alumni matters. Among other activities, he was district enrollment director in the Philadelphia area, president of the Dartmouth Club of Philadelphia, a board member of the Dartmouth Club Officers Association, a member of the Alumni Council, president of the class of 1959 and president of the Class Presidents Association. For his extraordinary service and dedication Jack was the first member of the class of 1959 to be recognized with a Dartmouth Alumni Award. In addition to Laura, he leaves sons Theodore ’85 and John IV ’87 and their spouses and three grandchildren.
