Jerome M. Weiss ’57
Jerome M. Weiss ’57 passed away in Napa, California, on April 4. Jerry graduated from Stamford (Connecticut) High School. He spent three years premed at Dartmouth, where he was in Germania (treasurer). He earned his M.D. from Tufts University School in 1960 and completed an internship at University of California in Los Angeles and a residency at University of California in San Francisco). He practiced for more six decades, specializing in urology. He served at the U.S. Naval Hospital in San Diego (1965-67), joined the urology staff of the University of California Medical School in San Francisco (1967-74), and had his own practice. In 1995 he established the Pacific Center for Pelvic Pain, which became known for its holistic approach to addressing unresolved pelvic pain and organ dysfunction, combining Western and Eastern medical traditions. He was able to help those no one else was able to heal. Patients praised his empathetic nature, describing him as a doctor who truly listened and cared. He was honored by the International Pelvic Pain Society in 2015. He was author of Breaking Through Chronic Pelvic Pain: A Holistic Approach for Relief. He and his wife, Ingrid, were members of the Belvedere-Tiburon community. They belonged to the San Francisco Opera Guild, San Francisco Yacht Club, San Francisco Ballet Association, and American Ballet Theatre Association. He is survived by children John and Karen and grandchildren. He was predeceased by Ingrid and son Doug.
