Jay Herbert Anderson ’52

Jay Herbert Anderson ’52 died on April 10 in Newport, New Hampshire, after a period of declining health. He was born on October 8, 1930, in Lynn, Massachusetts, and grew in Swampscott, Massachusetts. Jay finished Swampscott High School in 1948 and graduated from Dartmouth in 1952 with a degree in economics. He was a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon. He promptly joined Price Waterhouse, where he spent his entire career, serving 31 years in the Boston office as well as a tour in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and several years in New York City. When Jay reached mandatory partner retirement age in 1991, he and Edythe moved to New London, New Hampshire. He was involved with alumni affairs at Dartmouth, served for five years as class secretary, and was a member of the class of 52 executive committee. He also served on the Bentley College president’s advisory council and, after his retirement, on the Colby-Sawyer College president’s advisory council. He is survived by Edythe, his wife of 67 years; children Elaine ’83, Tracey ’85, and Jon; and four grandchildren.
