James R. Brassfield ’67

James R. Brassfield ’67 passed away on January 31 in Phoenix after a brief illness. Jim came to the College from Arlington, Virginia, majored in art, rowed crew, and was a brother of Psi Upsilon. After graduation Jim joined the U.S. Navy and was trained as an architect. He spent his career as architect for the Navy Bureau of Medicine & Surgery, overseeing the design and rebuild of more than 40 hospitals and a hundred clinics for the Navy and Air Force in 26 countries. Upon retirement, in addition to sailing on Chesapeake Bay, Jim and his wife of more than 52 years, Paula, continued to travel extensively. He is survived by Paula; children David, Timothy, Keith, and Lori; and grandchildren Macrae and Clara.
