James Norman Damon ’67

James Norman Damon ’67 passed away on October 5, 2022, in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Jim came to the College from Baltimore, majored in mathematics, and was active in the DOC and Ledyard Canoe Club throughout his time at Dartmouth. Following graduation he earned his Ph.D. from Harvard University and joined the faculty at the University of North Carolina, where he taught for 44 years. There, as professor emeritus of mathematics, he continued his research and involvement in medical imaging and chaos and singularity theory. Jim is survived by his wife of 51 years, Joanne; son Jimi and his wife, Clare; and grandchildren Eleanor and Miles.
