James N. “Reggie” Cant ’76

James N. “Reggie” Cant ’76 of Rotterdam, New York, died of cancer August 22, 2023, after a brief illness. Reggie was the son of the late Barbara Dunn Cant and Henry Cant. He came to Dartmouth from Indian Orchard, Massachusetts, and Springfield Classical High School, where he was captain of the football and basketball teams. After graduation from Dartmouth he taught mathematics for many years. Subsequently he worked for the New York State Workers Compensation Board. Reggie was an optimistic, caring, kind, and loving person. He was also fiercely competitive in games and sports, enjoyed reading, and loved animals, especially his cats Mittzy and The Count. He is survived by his wife, Susan, sister Marcia, brother Roger, nieces, and a great-nephew.
