James Munro Pedley ’59

James Munro Pedley ’59 died on October 13, 2018. He entered Dartmouth from Vermont Academy and was a member of the freshman ski team. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Vermont. After working in several jobs, Jay purchased a retail store in Northfield, Vermont, and operated it for more than 20 years. His passion for and skill at skiing continued throughout his adult life. He was an avid outdoorsman and also enjoyed hunting, camping, boating, and fishing. He was active in community affairs in Northfield, including service with the school board, the historical society, and the Merchants Bank. Jay also represented his local district in the Vermont House of Representatives for two terms. He is survived by his wife, Sally; four children (and two daughters-in-law) from a former marriage; four grandchildren; siblings Polly, John, and Mark; many nieces and nephews; and Sally’s children and grandchildren. His former wife, Charlotte, predeceased him.
