James J. Bell ’63

James J. Bell ’63 died March 22 from complications from Parkinson’s. He was born in Kansas City, Missouri, and graduated from Washington High School, where he was class president in his second and third years and was on the tennis, basketball, and track teams. Jim majored in business at Dartmouth and was a brother of Kappa Kappa Kappa, a member of the Green Key, and a member of Navy ROTC all four years. After graduating, Jim married and began his service in the U.S. Navy, serving in the supply corps. He was stationed in Naples, Florida, where the first of three daughters was born, and in Richmond, California. He then returned to Dartmouth to get his M.B.A. at Tuck. He worked for Chase Bank in N.Y.C. and Albany, New York, before joining Scott Machine in Walton, New York, where he lived for the remainder of his life. Jim was proud that he remained active in the Navy reserves until he retired after 20 years of service. He was predeceased by his second wife, Eileen, and is survived by his first wife, Susan, three daughters, four grandchildren, and siblings Phil ’58, Mary Anne, and John ’63 (his twin).
