James Hodge Beardsley Jr. ’66
James Hodge Beardsley Jr. ’66 passed away peacefully at home on January 31, surrounded by loving family and caregivers. He was born in Minneapolis on January 4, 1944, to Jim and Betty Beardsley. Jim grew up in Katonah, New York, as the oldest of five children. Shortly after graduating from Dartmouth, Jim married Peggy, who was a source of companionship, humor, and adventure for 50 years. Work and raising a family took them to many parts of the country, including San Anselmo, California; Milwaukee, Wisconsin; and Deephaven, Minnesota. Each location was a source of cherished and lasting friendships. Jim served in executive leadership positions for several corporations and was president and chairman of Phyton Corp., a plant disease control company, and a board member for Charter Manufacturing Co., an automotive supplier, at the time of his death. He enjoyed contributing to the success of an organization and being a part of a team that was striving to make something better. Jim will be remembered for being thoughtful, direct, and hard-working. He was preceded in death by Peggy. He was survived by children Kate, Stacy, and Craig and their spouses; grandchildren Maggie, Ryan, Ellie, Tashi, Robby, and Aiden; and siblings Mary, Ann, Peter, and John. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Jim’s memory to the National Park Foundation.
