James Darnell Kennedy ’59

James Darnell Kennedy ’59 died on March 18. He entered Dartmouth from Greenwich (Connecticut) High School and majored in psychology. He was a member of Delta Tau Delta and played both freshman and varsity soccer, being selected for the All-Ivy first team his senior year. Following graduation Jim became a naval aviation officer and served on full-time duty for 11 years. After leaving active duty he continued to serve in the Naval Air Reserve, holding several commands and retiring as a captain in 1990. After his military service and several business ventures, Jim worked for the city of San Jose, California, for about 20 years, retiring in 1993 as deputy director of the streets and traffic department. Following retirement Jim was a member of a folk singing group and an avid golfer. He leaves son Brett and sister Caroline.
