Jacob Henry ’18

Jacob Henry ’18 passed away on March 24, 2022, having recently returned from serving a year in AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps. His assignments included building houses with Habitat for Humanity in New Orleans and working at COVID vaccination sites in Los Angeles. In November 2021 he aced the LSAT and was preparing to apply to law schools in pursuit of a career in public service. Jacob was born June 19, 1996, in Joplin, Missouri. He graduated from Moorestown (New Jersey) High School, where he excelled as a member of the rowing club. While at Dartmouth he studied government with a concentration in world religions and studied religion at the University of Edinburgh in 2016. In the summers of 2017 and 2018 he volunteered to work with children in Bosnia Herzegovina as part of a peace-building ministry of the New Jersey Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. He also served in 2017 as a synod intern focused on social justice issues. Jacob was an avid ping pong player and video gamer and served as dungeon master for a weekly Dungeons & Dragons game. He loved the Philadelphia Eagles and 76ers and some of the best days of his life were spent with his dad in Citizens Bank Park watching the Phillies win the 2008 World Series. Jacob’s life is being celebrated by his parents, Don and Cynthia Henry, brother Rick, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends who will miss his scholar’s brain and generous heart.
