Sally Combes Leahey wrote to me of the death of her father, Abbott C. Combes, on October 29. While he was at Dartmouth he was a member of Psi U, Dragon Society, and Green Key and was the executive manager of athletics.

Bob Eckerson tells an interesting story about his relationship with our late classmate Lou Springsteen,who became a minister and presided over several of our reunion ceremonies in Rollins Chapel.

We write our notes at the winter solstice and also during the holiday period with visions of sugar plums abounding if not for us, for the grands and great-grands.

Mark your calendars: The 2019 mini-reunion in Hanover is scheduled for the weekend of October 4-6. Our 80th birthday celebration will take place in spring (late April-early May) 2020. San Antonio, Texas, is being considered as first choice.

We are about to start the beginning of the 250th year for Dartmouth. By the time you read this it will February; however, it will not stop me from wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a happy healthy 2019.

Sixty-sixers continue to receive accolades for their achievements and continue to contribute to their communities in a variety of meaningful ways.

Somewhere—perhaps in a presidential tweet from John Trimble—I read that the great class of ’58 numbers 440 or so, but is projected to end 2019 at precisely 414.
