Hugh Walter Lefkowitz ’52

Hugh Walter Lefkowitz ’52 passed away on January 16, 2016, in New Jersey and was buried with military honors at the Brig. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown, New Jersey. Hugh served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict after graduating from Dartmouth. Hugh graduated from East Orange High School, New Jersey, and was a resident of Milburn, New Jersey, before entering college. At Dartmouth he was a government major. Following military service Hugh returned to New Jersey and worked first for Rowe Manufacturing, a division of the Canteen Corp. He then worked for five years at Ernst and Ernst as a management consultant in New York City and Boston before returning to New York to serve as corporate personnel director for Topps Chewing Gum Inc. In the 1980s Hugh served as an Alumni Fund volunteer for the College, but the College and class lost track of Hugh following this part of his life and only belatedly learned of his passing. He is survived by son Matthew.
