Herbert Arthur Grant Jr. ’59

Herbert Arthur Grant Jr. ’59 died on July 5, 2017. He entered Dartmouth from Phillips Exeter Academy and was a member of Alpha Theta. He was one of about a dozen ’59s who completed the 3/2 program with both Thayer and Tuck schools, and in 1960 he received his M.S. in engineering and business administration. He was in Navy ROTC during his college years and served as a Marine Corps officer for approximately three years. In 1966, after working for about two years in Keene, New Hampshire, Herb joined the Kingston-Warren Corp., a metal-fabricating firm owned by his family and located in Newfield, New Hampshire, and he later became its CEO. At the time of his 25th reunion in 1984, Herb reported that his company had experienced exciting growth, he had been divorced twice and had two daughters, and he was active in a number of activities outside his company. He had also been president of the Dartmouth Club of the Seacoast Region. In 1987, at age 50, Herb sold the Kingston-Warren Corp. About that time he married Robin, to whom he was to be married for more than years, and he and Robin moved to Scottsdale, Arizona, at first seasonally and permanently. Several years ago they moved to Big Fork, Montana. The obituary published in the Big Fork newspaper states that he leaves Robin and several stepchildren and grandchildren.
