Hamilton R. Krans Jr. ’66
Hamilton R. Krans Jr. ’66 passed away on June 8 in Dover, New Hampshire, surrounded by his family. Raised in Newport, New Hampshire, Dick was a standout basketball player at Towle High School. (On September 27 he will be inducted posthumously into the Newport Athletic Hall of Fame in recognition of his outstanding high school basketball career.) At Dartmouth Dick was a member of Dragon. He earned his J.D. from University of Miami School of Law in 1969 and served in the U.S. Army, 1969-70, and then the N.H. Army National Guard. Dick practiced law in Dover for more than 50 years. He served multiple terms as Strafford County attorney and held leadership positions in the Strafford County Bar Association and the Charles C. Doe American Inn of Court. He also was a member of the N.H. Department of Labor Workers Compensation Appeals Board for more than 20 years and spent two years in the N.H. House of Representatives (2016-18). He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Pamela; daughter Heather; son Hamilton III and his wife, Angela; sister Sharon and her husband, Robert; brother Allan and his wife, Mary; and several nieces and nephews and their families. The family asks friends consider supporting one of his favorite charities, the N.H. Food Bank or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
