Gordon C. Hally ’57
Gordon C. Hally ’57 died on February 7 at his home in Seattle. Gordon graduated from Westfield (New Jersey) Senior High School. At Dartmouth he was a diver on the swimming team and a member of Chi Phi. He was part of the 3-2 program, and earned his A.B. from Dartmouth and his M.B.A. from Tuck School in 1958. He was released from Army Reserve active duty training in 1959. Gordon began his professional journey with Johnson & Johnson in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and later worked for Texas Instruments in southern California. His interest in economics and financial markets led him to Pacific Investment Management Co. in Newport Beach, California, where he had a long and successful career managing bond funds for city governments and Fortune 500 companies. He retired as executive vice president. Gordon and his wife, Jill, routinely swam together along the beach in Corona del Mar, California. He swam competitively in the local masters program, where he held records in the butterfly in his age bracket. After he retired they moved to the Pacific Northwest with homes in Seattle and Lake Conner, Washington. Gordon pursued his love of flying, spending many hours soaring solo over the San Juan Islands. The family enjoyed skiing in Deer Valley, Utah, and crabbing, sailing, and beachcombing at their home overlooking Puget Sound. Gordon had a deep faith in God and constantly pursued spiritual growth. He is survived by Jill, his wife of 42 years, sons Craig and Mark, and grandchildren.
