Glendon Richard Wathen ’55

Glendon Richard Wathen ’55 passed away June 25, 2017. Coming to Dartmouth from Fort Fairfield, Maine, Glen joined the Navy ROTC and graduated from Tuck School of Business. He was a member of Delta Upsilon and the varsity track team. After completing his active duty as an intelligence officer in the Pentagon, Glen returned to Fort Fairfield to begin his career as a potato farmer. He managed his grandfather’s farm, which was started in 1895. He distinguished himself as a leader in the potato industry for 35 years, farming 1,200 acres and helping to develop new harvesting innovations. He was also a director of the Maine Potato Growers for 20 years and director of Farm Credit of Aroostock. Glen is survived by his wife, Lynn, daughters Karen and Laurie, son Gordon and three grandchildren.
