Gerald W. Davidson ’57

Gerald W. Davidson ’57 passed away on October 17, 2023. Gerry grew up a small-town boy on his family’s dairy farm. Realizing as a young man that the rural life was not his desired future, he attended Dartmouth. His first job after graduation was with New Departure Bearings in Bristol, Connecticut. Next he moved to Nashua, New Hampshire, to begin a long career in the management of computer technology with employment at Sanders Inc., Royal Business Forms, and Dataroyal. His last position before retirement was with Bolt, Beranek and Newman (BBN) of Cambridge, Massachusetts, which gave him the opportunity to live in Denmark supervising a Danish-based company acquired by BBN. Gerry’s great love was boats, especially on Lake Winnipesaukee, New Hampshire. In retirement he “could be found at any time, any given day, talking about old boats, working on old boats, playing with old boats, riding in old boats, racing old boats, thinking about old boats, and living and breathing old boats. He was a talented craftsman, born with a gift of restoring wooden boats and engines to their original glory, a passion he spent the majority of his adult life pursuing.” Gerry was predeceased by Elaine, his wife of 66 years, and is survived by son Brad, daughters Carole and Janet, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
