Gerald Chan Lukeman ’52

Gerald Chan Lukeman ’52 passed away in New York City on August 26, 2018, according to information received from his son, Noah. Gerry was born in New York on February 5, 1931, and grew up in and around the city. He graduated from Park Ridge (New Jersey) High School, where excelled academically and was captain of both the football and baseball teams in his senior year. He then attended and graduated from Dartmouth, majoring in psychology and lettering as a pitcher with the baseball team. He was a member of Sigma Nu. After graduating Gerry served for two years in the U.S. Army before spending several post-college years acting and directing in the theater. This included two years at the Circle in the Square Theatre in New York. The bulk of his career, however, was in the research side of the advertising business and all but a few years were with Ipsos-ASI, where he was president and retired as chairman emeritus of the company. Gerry also did graduate work at Bennington College in Vermont and served on several industry boards and volunteer organizations in and around New York. Gerry and Brenda Myerson were married on December 7, 1957, and they had four children, Noah, Melissa, Adam, and Joshua, all of whom survive him.
