George Wellington Bligh Jr. ’59

George Wellington Bligh Jr. ’59 died on May 5, 2016. He entered Dartmouth from Springfield Turnpike High School in Springfield, Illinois. “Duke,” as he was known during his college days, majored in economics and was a member of Phi Gamma Delta. After graduation from Dartmouth he received an M.B.A. from Columbia. He began his career in retailing in Chicago and after several years moved to the East Coast. In 1979 he and his wife, Maureen, settled in Monroe, Connecticut, where they lived for more than 35 years before moving to Deerfield Beach, Florida, in 2015. They spent summers in Long Beach Island, New Jersey. He leaves Maureen, his wife of more than 47 years, children Bruce and Geoffrey and several grandchildren.
