Geoffrey W. Hands ’59

Geoffrey W. Hands ’59 of Minneapolis passed away on June 25, 2009. Geoff came to Dartmouth from the Hill School in Pottstown, Pennsylvania. He followed his father, H. William ’35, Tu’36, to Dartmouth and Tuck. Geoff earned an M.B.A. from Tuck in 1960. A four-year member of the Newman Club, he also participated in varsity soccer and swimming through his sophomore year. After initially working for Arthur Anderson, he joined McKinsey and Co., where an assignment took him and his family to reside in Australia. He held a number of senior management positions, including president/CEO of Worthington Turbine International Corp. in Brussels, Belgium. After corporate life Geoff turned his avocation of woodworking into a second career as a remodeling contractor, which he loved. Retirement led to making heirloom furniture for his children. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Ellie, two children and a sister.
