Frederick Wallace Geissinger ’67

Frederick Wallace Geissinger ’67 passed away December 16, 2023, with wife Michele by his side. Rick came to the College from Dearborn, Michigan, majored in economics, and was a brother of Tabard. After graduation Rick obtained an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago and embarked on a 45-year career in financial services and banking, first with Chase Manhattan Bank and ultimately serving as chairman and CEO of American General Finance for almost 20 years. He was a longtime member of the Financial Services Roundtable and served as chairman of the Housing Policy Council and the American Financial Services Association. Rick served as class treasurer from 2002 to 2017, class webmaster from 2003 to 2007, and as class agent, leadership agent, and participation agent for the Alumni Fund. Sam Ostrow ’67 wrote, “It was my pleasure to partner with Rick for nearly 20 years in serving our class. Although we came from different backgrounds and had different views on the world at large, when it came to the class of ’67 we shared a common focus—maintaining the unique closeness that is the hallmark of our class. His thoughts and his efforts on behalf of the class and for Dartmouth remain very much at the heart of what we do today.” Rick is survived by Michele; daughter Jacqueline and husband Leonardo; grandchildren Leo and Alexandra; sisters Lynn and Patricia; nieces Kim and Karen; and nephew Michael. He was predeceased by his daughter, Amy, and his brother, Phillip.
