Frank J. Hershenson ’65

Frank J. Hershenson ’65, 78, passed away on February 5 in Cincinnati. Frank was raised in Marblehead, Massachusetts, and at Dartmouth majored in mathematics, played freshman baseball, and was active in The Players. After Dartmouth he earned a law degree from Boston College. During law school Frank met Miriam (Ratner) and they married in 1968, soon welcoming sons Trent and Scott to their family. Throughout the boys’ childhood, Frank loved coaching their soccer teams. Frank’s career spanned a broad range of industries. He initially served as legal counsel for a national donut chain (though he enjoyed telling his very young children that his job was to stick his thumb in the middle of each donut to make the hole). He transitioned to custom computer programming during the early days of personal computing; ultimately he owned and operated a salon equipment wholesale company. While managing his company, Frank was required to spend a significant amount of time in China, and he then chose to live there for much of his retirement. During that time he cherished extended return visits to the United States to visit friends and family. Frank is survived by his sons and their wives; grandchildren Danielle, Jason, Emma, and Carter; brother Richard; and former wife Miriam.
