Frank Bentley Cory ’52

Frank Bentley Cory ’52 of Lima, Ohio, passed away on May 3, 2017, at St. Rita Hospital in Lima. He was born on March 12, 1930, in Lima, attended Central High School, and was a graduate of Western Reserve Academy. At Dartmouth he majored in economics and was a member of Phi Delta Theta. He then graduated from law school at the University of Michigan and was sworn into the Ohio Bar in 1955. He proudly served his country as a sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Korean War in the counter-intelligence corp. He then joined the law firm founded by his grandfather, Harry O. Bentley, in 1896 and later managed by his father. The firm merged in 1988 with the Meredith family firm to its current name Cory Meredith. On September 17, 1955, he married Katherine “Dee” Tunis. Frank was a lifetime member of Shawnee Country Club and a member of the Elks Lodge #54 in Lima. He served on many boards in the Lima area, including the Lima Public Library, the Huntington National Bank, the Allen County Bar Association, Lima Memorial Hospital, and the Lima Convalescent Home, and as past president of the Lima City Schools PTA. Surviving are Dee, sons James and Frank, daughter Sara, and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Linda, and his identical twin brother, Charles II ’52.
