Francis J. Ambrogio II ’83

Francis J. Ambrogio II ’83 died on July 9. He is survived by his son, Francis III, former wife Martha, and many cousins, aunts, uncles, friends, and loved ones. Francis came to Dartmouth from Greenwich (Connecticut) High School, where he was a cross-country runner, singer, and trombonist and earned his Eagle Scout Award. At Dartmouth he was a member of Tri-Kap. Following graduation Francis returned to Greenwich and pursued a career as a business consultant with a focus on software used by retailers. He advised a series of well-known retailers and fashion brands and was proud to help businesses profit and their workers stay employed. Francis had intellectual interests ranging from mathematical theory to theology to the classics. He spoke multiple languages and was passionate about traveling and knowing the world and the people around him. He participated actively in the Greenwich community and dedicated significant time to many activities, including youth soccer, the Kiwanis Club, and the Boy Scouts, which he served as a Cubmaster and Scoutmaster for more than 15 years. As a mentor, Francis made a lasting impact on many young people. He also participated in martial arts, earning his black belt in Tang Soo Do, and supported various institutions, including the Greenwich Historical Society and Mystic Seaport.
