Ferdinand Charles Arens III ’59

Ferdinand Charles Arens III ’59 died on January 19. He entered Dartmouth from Wellesley (Massachusetts) High School and majored in chemistry. He played both freshman and varsity soccer as a fullback and, in his senior year, was named to the All-Ivy second team. He was also a member of Phi Gamma Delta and Sphinx. Following graduation from Dartmouth Fritz went to naval officer candidate school and served as an officer for three years. After his service in the Navy he settled in Columbus, Ohio, and had a career of about 35 years selling V. Mueller surgical products. Following retirement in 1996 Fritz and Carol Sue, his wife of more than 50 years, split their time between their home in Columbus and a second home in Chatham, Massachusetts. He leaves Carol Sue; children Charles (and wife Marsha), Suzanne (and husband Ted), Corrine and Ryan; nine grandchildren; and his brother, Stewart “Sandy.”
