Edward A. Weisenfeld ’51

Edward A. Weisenfeld ’51, an active and contributive member of the class of ’51 for many years, died on January 3 in Rockville, Maryland. He was predeceased by his wife, Betty, whom he married during his senior year at Dartmouth and who was herself intimately involved in class and College activities. Ed was a member of Pi Lambda Phi and graduated from the Tuck School. He and Betty lived in Sachem Village, Dartmouth’s quarters for married students, during Ed’s last year and a half at Dartmouth. Following graduation Ed served as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force before becoming a manager at Equitable Paper Bag Co. He then joined J.P. Morgan as a stockbroker. He was an early proponent of working from locations away from his Wall Street office; he especially enjoyed the ability to spend summers in Hanover. He and Betty also traveled widely through the years. His Hanover ties and close connections to Dartmouth classmates and friends made him a natural choice whenever an able volunteer was needed for a class project. He served as his class treasurer and as a long-time member of the class’s executive committee. Ed was also an active contributor to his home town of Glen Rock, New Jersey. Among other roles he served as a member of the town planning board. He loved the outdoors and was an avid golfer, tennis player, walker and swimmer. In recent years, as his health
declined, he moved from Glen Rock to the Washington, D.C., area to be near family.
