Edward Joseph Finerty Jr. ’52
Edward Joseph Finerty Jr. ’52 of Framingham, Massachusetts, passed away on February 15. Born on November 13, 1930, in Dorchester, Massachusetts, Ed grew up in Milton, Massachusetts, where he was an altar server for St. Agatha Church and played baseball and football for Milton High School class of 1948. He then attended Dartmouth and Tuck, where he graduated in 1952 and 1953. He was a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon and a very active alumnus. Ed enlisted in the Navy and served as a lieutenant commander aboard the USS Fessenden in the Korean War. He fell in love with Peg Shea, who became his wife of 44 years, and they went on many adventures—including a move to Hong Kong, where the career IBMer shared his sales expertise with students from Southeast Asia. Ed was a runner and proudly finished the Boston Marathon at age 51. He was honored to serve St. Patrick’s Church for 50 years in various capacities. Ed and Peg were also longtime activists in Worldwide Marriage Encounter. Ed also enjoyed going to the Brandeis Osher Lifelong Learning Institute well into his 80s. Ed loved life and lived it with clear devotion to his faith, family, and friends. Ed was predeceased by Peg. He is survived by children Edward III, Susan, and Julie (and husband Christopher); six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
