Earl S. Eichin ’63

Earl S. Eichin ’63 died unexpectedly January 6 near his home in North Carolina. He was born in Kingsport, Tennessee, and grew up in Ashburnham, Massachusetts, where he attended Cushing Academy. While at Dartmouth Skip played soccer, majored in international relations and was a member of Psi U. After Dartmouth he went to naval officers candidate school, was commissioned and subsequently served aboard the USS Intrepid. Following military service Skip attended law school at the University of Virginia, receiving his degree in 1969. He spent the next 48 years practicing law in New Orleans. Skip was married to Kathryn Bell Cover in 1964. He’d known her while he was at Dartmouth and she was at Connecticut College. They lived in New Orleans for the duration of their marriage. In 2004 he remarried, to Anne Strachan of New Orleans. During their marriage Skip and Anne attended the class of 1963’s 40th, 45th and 50th reunions. Skip also attended several of Psi U’s reunions through the years. Skip and Anne were divorced in 2015 and he was not married at the time of his death. His son, Tedrowe, survives him. Those close to Skip know they’ve lost a good friend.
