Dwight E. Fenton ’93

Dwight E. Fenton ’93 of Nantucket, Massachusetts, passed away unexpectedly on June 7, 2023. He is survived by children Charlie and Nathalie, his parents, two sisters, and many friends. At Dartmouth he was a well-loved brother at Phi Delt and known throughout campus and beyond for his kind and easy demeanor—a trait that was endeared as the class of ‘93 co-secretary. Dwight was a nationally ranked, six-time All American swimmer and broke a host of records during his tenure with the Big Green. Thirty years later he still holds Dartmouth’s third-fastest time for the 50-meter freestyle. Dwight loved the outdoors and taking up new sports, from kayaking, fishing, and mountain biking to skiing, yoga, and surfing. At Dartmouth he traversed the Upper Valley trails, spent many a night in the Dartmouth Outing Club cabins, and loved exploring with his Golden retriever, Thoreau. From San Francisco and Half Moon Bay, California, to Montauk, New York, and beyond, Dwight always loved the waves. His interest in fashion became a career, beginning in retail at Patagonia and building as a merchandiser and designer working at national brands, including Old Navy, Vineyard Vines, and J.Crew. Dwight thrived as a chief creative officer at Bonobos and then brand president at Walmart’s Free Assembly. Dwight’s lifelong dream was to create and build his own brand and he realized it with Stoke ACK, a lifestyle brand and retail environment he launched on Nantucket, Massachusetts, in 2021. Stoke, he said, is about authenticity, inclusion, and sustainability—core values Dwight embodied.
