Donald Leroy Terwilliger Jr. ’60

Donald Leroy Terwilliger Jr. ’60 died February 19 after suffering from multiple hip surgery revisions, ever-increasing arthritis, and spending his last eight months in a wheelchair. Born in Allenhurst, New Jersey, on July 5, 1939, Lee graduated from Asbury Park (New Jersey) High School. After Dartmouth he joined D.L. Terwilliger Co., Lithographers, a company his father founded in 1946. Lee met his future wife, Margo, who had been doing business with him for 12 years and helping him teach English as a second language to some of his employees. Lee served as CEO of the company from 1971 to 1994, when he retired and passed the company to sons Donald and John. Lee was active after his retirement. He loved to sail, making time for a yearly jaunt to the Caribbean. He skied every winter in the west and in Vermont and golf was a lifelong passion. He was also a model railroad enthusiast and spent hours on the painstaking details it involved. He was quick-witted and felt there was nothing that could not be joked about. He loved to bait people into political debates, always taking the conservative side. He is survived by his sons, Margo, sister Sally, five grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
