Donald Christie McLellan ’60

Donald Christie McLellan ’60 died in San Mateo, California, on July 22, 2009. He is survived by his mother, Beatrice; siblings Francis Xavier, Ann, Duff and Elizabeth; children Elizabeth Ann and Matthew; stepdaughter M. Kathryn; and former wives Mary and Karen. Chris was born June 11, 1938, in Portland, Oregon, where he was raised. He graduated from Central Catholic High School in Portland, earning three varsity letters in football and baseball before matriculating to Dartmouth. At Dartmouth he was a member of Psi U, graduating with a major in psychology. Chris played freshman baseball at Dartmouth and was active all four years in the Newman Club. As an alumnus Chris served his class as a class agent and a regional agent. For 32 years the investment business was his passion. Initially Chris worked for Dean Witter as a broker. Then in 1967 he moved to the San Francisco Bay area, where he began his career as an institutional trader. He retired in 1997 as a partner of Robertson Stephens. A memorial Mass was said for him on September 19, 2009, in Portland, Oregon.
