Don Broderick Knapp II ’60

Don Broderick Knapp II ’60 of St. Petersburg, Florida, passed away on January 3 at Suncoast Hospice after a brief illness. Born to Donald and Sara Knapp, his childhood was in Beaver, Pennsylvania, where he graduated from the Lawrenceville School. At Dartmouth he served four years as the technical director of WDCR and as a member of the Motor Sports Club. He graduated with a major in zoology and then from the Jefferson Medical College. After serving as a surgeon in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, he made his home in St. Petersburg, where he married Patricia and raised their two children, Deborah and Colin. He practiced ophthalmology there for 46 years. His passion was improving the lives of those with vision impairments while serving on the staff of the Lighthouse of Pinellas, St. Petersburg. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife. He is survived by Deborah and Colin, daughter-in-law Caprice, and granddaughters Moorea and Etta.
