David Merle Litsey ’52

David Merle Litsey ’52 died on December 21, 2021, in St. Louis Park, Minnesota. David was born on March 13, 1928, in Minneapolis and graduated from Roosevelt High School in that city in 1945. He then served three years in the U.S. Navy before entering Dartmouth. David left Dartmouth after his freshman year, returning to attend and graduate Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Minnesota in 1952. He later earned a master’s in education from that school. David spent his career in secondary school education responsibilities in Minnesota, primarily at St. Louis Park High School. He was chair of the English department. On March 30, 1951, David and Meredith Ruud, a fellow student at the university, were married. They had 63 years of companionship before she passed away in 2014. He is survived by three children, four grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
