David L. Stillman ’51

David L. Stillman ’51 of Biloxi, Mississippi, died on July 3 in nearby Gulfport. His wife, Georgiana, survives him, along with three children and six grandchildren. His late father, Allen P. Stillman, was a member of Dartmouth’s class of 1920. Dave was an active chubber at Dartmouth, involved in the Outing Club and Cabin & Trail. A history major, he served on the Winter Carnival committee and sang in the Glee Club. Following graduation Dave served for two years as an enlisted man in the U.S. Army, then attended the Episcopal seminary in Alexandria, Virginia, for a year and was a junior high school teacher. He spent the bulk of his working life as a retail furniture store manager. In an autobiographical statement in his 50th reunion yearbook he commented, “It took me 60 years to figure out what I should be. I should be retired!” Dave loved retirement, especially tending his flower gardens and traveling with Georgiana.
