David L. Auld ’48

David L. Auld ’48 of Friendship in Dublin, Ohio, died October 1, 2017. He graduated from Upper Arlington (Ohio) High School in 1943 and came to Dartmouth after V-5 schooling elsewhere. He was a member of Phi Delta Alpha/Phi Delta Theta and spent his senior year at Tuck School. He entered General Electric’s business training course and remained with GE until 1956, when he joined the family emblem business, the D.L. Auld Co., and grew it through the new use of urethane materials, primarily used for automotive emblems. The company was sold to 3M in 1987. David remained active in Dartmouth affairs as an interviewer for admissions and president of his regional club. He was preceded in death by his son, Donald. He is survived by his wife, Joyce, sons Douglas and Daniel and their spouses, sister Diann, niece Karen, nephew Kirk and numerous grandchildren.
