David H. Bradley ’58

David H. Bradley ’58 passed away on May 21. He came to Dartmouth on a Navy ROTC scholarship, majored in economics, and was a member of Phi Gamma Delta and Sphinx. Dave was a winning quarterback and in his senior year led Dartmouth to its most successful football season in 19 years. His passes to Dave Moss ’58 and Don Klages ’58, among others, were numerous and highly successful. He was named All-New England quarterback that season. After graduation Dave served three years as an officer aboard a U.S. Navy destroyer. After a year working in Dartmouth admissions, he went to Harvard Law School and returned to Hanover to practice law until 2017. He was elected to the N.H. House of Representatives in 1970 and to the N.H. Senate in 1972 for three terms. He served on the Hanover school board, was a trustee of Mary Hitchcock Hospital and the Norris Cotton Cancer Center, and for years rode for charity in the annual Prouty bike ride. Dave was past president of the Dartmouth Alumni Association and the Dartmouth Club of Hanover. Classmates remember Dave and his group of Hanover doo-wop singers serenading during class reunions. Bob Downey ’58 recalls, “Dave seldom missed a Dartmouth Ski Week held annually in Colorado from 1991 through 2021. He skied, of course, but afterwards we played touch football and the blocking could be ferocious!” He is survived by his wife, Ann; three sons, including Christopher ’92; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
