David Graham ’78

David Graham ’78, a former class president, died in Seattle on May 26 after a long battle with melanoma. While at Dartmouth Dave majored in biochemistry, was a member of Alpha Delta, and played on the varsity golf team. After earning an M.B.A. at the University of Virginia he began a career in medical technology marketing and business development that included positions in three companies, a long consulting career, and numerous entrepreneurial endeavors. Dave was a devoted father and husband, a lover of all things Scottish, and an enthusiastic participant in a myriad of travel and outdoor adventures. He served as class president from 2010 through 2017, and set about deepening the commitment of classmates already engaged and reengaging many who had drifted from the fold. His proudest achievement was the building of the Class of 1978 Bunkhouse near Moosilauke Ravine Lodge. Dave even took part in construction by recruiting a group of 20-plus classmates to assist him in the timber-framing phase of the project. In his final moments Dave was surrounded by those whom he held most dear: Jane, his wife of 35-plus years; son Connor and his fiancée, Nadja; and son C.J. and his partner, Michael. Dave is also survived by his sister, Nancy. Numerous classmates attended his memorial service at Mount Baker Park Presbyterian Church in Seattle, where they bade him farewell to a swirl of bagpipes.
