David F. Snow ’54

David F. Snow ’54 passed away in Bangor, Maine, on April 30. He attended the Consolidated School and George Stevens Academy in Wisconsin, followed by a year at Stanford, before he transferred to Dartmouth. David majored in philosophy and was active in Zeta Psi. He then attended graduate school at Harvard, where he originally planned to earn a Ph.D. in philosophy and then switched to the law school, where he graduated magna cum laude in 1960. He and his family moved to Cleveland, where spent the next 38 years—except for one year teaching law at the University of Iowa—practicing law at the firm now known as Jones Day. In 1988 he was appointed to the U.S. Bankruptcy Court. He retired in 2000 and moved to the land of his paternal ancestors, where he enjoyed swimming, kayaking, wind surfing on Toddy Pond. He also served on the boards of the Blue Hill Library and the Blue Hill Hospital and as chairman of the Town of Surry appeals board. He facilitated numerous colloquies on the U.S. Constitution and U.S. Supreme Court. He is survived by his wife, Joyce, and children Nicholas, Alison, and Catherine.
