David Emanuel Lurie ’79

David Emanuel Lurie ’79 of Newton, Massachusetts, died on April 24. Dave was born on October 20, 1957, in Syracuse, New York; raised outside of Philadelphia; and attended Radnor High School. At Dartmouth Dave joined Kappa Kappa Kappa, serving as president junior year. He majored in policy studies, went on a Tucker internship in Jersey City, and served on the committee on education planning. After Dartmouth Dave attended Harvard Law School (class of ’83), where he met and married Susan Winkler and was a member of the Legal Aid Bureau. Dave was a civil trial lawyer, practicing for 14 years at Mintz Levin and then forming Lurie Friedman LLP, where he happily worked for 27 years. Dave will be remembered for his integrity, compassion, humor, and kindness. He lived life fully and with passion, particularly enjoying hiking, running, all things basketball, and spending time with his friends and loved ones, especially his children, grandson, and fiancée Sue Miller. Classmates remember Dave as “smart, warm, authentic, and an excellent athlete. He was great with people as he was genuinely interested in others and always had a bright sparkle of positive energy in his eyes. He was one of the good guys: honest, generous, and honorable.” Dave is survived by Sue Miller; children Rachel, Daniel, and Mitchell; and grandson Landon.
