David D. Sicher ’67

David D. Sicher ’67 passed away at his home on January 1, a few weeks after he was diagnosed with an aggressive and untreatable cancer. He came to the College from Deerfield Academy, majored in sociology, played lacrosse, and was sports director of WDCR. After graduation David married, enlisted in the Army Reserves, and earned an M.B.A. at Washington University before starting his Wall Street career at Bache & Co. After eight years he was divorced and had moved to Salomon Brothers (now Citigroup), where he spent 30 years before moving to Ramius, from which he retired. In 1984 he married Linda Wilder (his date at Winter Carnival in 1965), whose two children joined David’s two from his first marriage. David spent his life on the Upper West Side of New York City, and he and Linda loved the theater and their community there. An important part of that community were his Dartmouth friends, especially a small group that got together regularly at the same midtown Manhattan restaurant for good food, drink, and fellowship. As Jim Peck ’67 said, “These happy occasions won’t be the same without David.” David was predeceased by son Mark, who passed away from cancer at 23; he is survived by Linda; brother Steven; children Karen, Jennifer, and Andrew; and grandchildren Oliver, Leo, Victoria, Remington, and Cash.
